On the Move...Again

The time has come for us to pack up, once again. Daniel and I typically feel the urge to move every 2-3 years and have held true to that pattern throughout our marriage. We have been blessed to live in some amazing places that we cherish; Alaska-piece of heaven on earth, Canada-another heaven on earth, London-fast paced but amazing, and twice now in Texas, first in Harlingen and now in Beaumont. Every move is hard emotionally but has been good for us. I knew that Beaumont was not where we would live forever but I dread this move, which is a first for me. To start, we have kids in school and we own a home. Those are things we never dealt with before. It is always hard to leave friends and it is always hard to put myself out there to make new friends. You would think after all of these moves it gets easier but it doesn't. The boys have their friends at school and little Daniel has a great cub scout troop that they will say good-bye to. This move will require them to leave their comfort zones and make room for personal growth. I can actually say that I long for the day for us to find a place that will be "HOME". Now, onto the job. Daniel started his career as a Border Patrol agent. He has been part of that agency for almost 11 years, but job titles and responsibilities changed which each transfer. This time Daniel is switching agencies. Since this is a new agency, that means back to the academy for 22 weeks. He reports the first week of January and my status as a single mom begins. The boys are trying to be brave but I know there will be many many tears when he leaves, from all of us. I am a strong woman and will endure but I will have to rely on my Savior to get through it. Since this is a new beginning, we will not have the luxury of having the government move us, we will have to do it all by ourselves. So not only will I be a single mom, but I will have to pack us up and sell the house. WOW, I feel overwhelmed just typing it! So that is it. Like I have referred in the past, we are the nomadic Zaehringers.

Congrats on the new job! I guess you'll protect the southern border and we'll watch over the northern one (our state touches it):) Maybe the next move for both of us will put us back together again....

Call for support...I've been there.

Wow - I'll know a CSI person - cool! He better give you some time you need before he leaves and some when he returns!!! Will you stay to finish the school year since 22 weeks puts you almost to summer? Or just till the house sells? WOW!!! That single mom stuff is for the birds! You can do it - you're amazing - and in my prayers.

Well, first of all CONGRATULATIONS to Daniel on the new job!! Secondly, I have no doubt at all that you will not only handle being a single mom with grace, but you will be successful at accomplishing all that you need to do. You are the type of persont that will just buckle down and git 'er done!!
You could always come to Ketchikan for a vacation with the boys to pass some time!!

Reading that you all will be seperated for sometime brought me to tears. Seeing how hard it has been on me to be gone frome my kids for a month...I can't imagine longer although we were looking at it being a month longer. I will keep you in my prayers. You are strong and always have been.
Love ya, JIll
