We had a general PTA meeting this past week with the 1st graders doing a Christmas program. Little Daniel, being a scout in the first grade, helped lead the Pledge of Allegiance. I am so proud of him. He is quite shy around large and new groups and has stage fright real bad. I remember the first time he gave a talk in Primary, he had his fingers in his ears and had his back to the crowd. So this was a big deal. Though he was nervous, he overcame his fright and got up in front of a room full of parents, teachers and children and did a GREAT job. He actually was real excited to do the pledge (something about being a Scout suits him well and helps him rise above his fears). The song was one of many the first graders sang but this one had him right up front. Bless his nervous heart. Good job son!
Who would have ever thought that South East Texas would get snow! We had about 2-3 inches fall on Wednesday night and what a delight it was for the whole town to wake up Thursday to a white covered Beaumont. I think the last time this town had this much snow was in the 1980's. It was more of a culture shock for me to see everyone react to the snow, but then again, I have always lived where it snowed. The boys were so excited to get out and play in it, that they did not even want to get out of their pj's. There was a 2 hour delay for school but even at school, all of the teachers had their classes out playing. Little Daniels class went out twice and when I picked him up from school, his whole class had their shoes and socks off because they were soaked! What fun! Of course it is all gone now but it sure did spice things up the one day it lasted.
