Damage from Ike

Well, it is hard to know what is going on at home but I have been able to pull up a few pictures of Beaumont. Here is the link to our local paper if you want to see some pictures and video: www.beaumontenterprise.com
You can click on photos and also if you browse the videos, the video titled IKE-Beaumont Damage and Debris, you will see our neighborhood. Pretty scary. Our street is literally off Westgate and Gladys.

According to people who were here during Hurricane Rita in 2005, our town was without power for 2-3 weeks and it looks like it will take at least that long to get things up and running again. Daniel is going to try and head back to Beaumont to assess the damage and then we will figure out a plan for our family.

The good news is, we are all safe and we are all together. I just hope and pray one of the many many big trees around our home are not ON our home! Thanks for all the e-mails and prayers. I will try to keep everyone posted.

I am glad that you are okay. At least you are all together. After hearing your updates, hopefully you won't have much damage. Here in Kentucky, we had wind gusts on Sunday up to 81 mph. Over 287,000 people are without power and it will take a week or so to get everyone back up. I have had trouble getting a signal for my cell phone and my regular phone is out also. It is going to be a fun week here. Glad you are all okay and hopefully we will see you soon! Mom and Grandma

Hey Sonja~ I hope you didn't have any trees on your house. We were lucky and only had a few limbs on our house. We lost our fence though. Let me know how it all is at your house

I know what the damage was here from Ike and have been out of power for four days and may not see it for a while. I hope all is well. I have to come to the Library to play on the computer.
